Like many others, I am in need of assistance also. I have 3 children and facing an eviction. I have a full time job and go to school in the evening. As of the month of may, I started to fall behind in rent due to the fact that my job does not offer overtime anymore. Doing overtime was my way of getting my bills paid. I have noone to turn to for help. My dad was the only one I could count on. He is deceased now. My mom side of the family is of no help due to substance abuse. My dad side of the family is located in north carolina and mostly all deceased. I to went to social service for assistance. The kids father is of no help or paying support for the children. I am past due for june rent and late becoming past due for july. If anyone has some supportive advise or offering of assistance, it would be greatly appreciated
in response to angel8462...i am still in the situation angel. do you have family in the area? a good resource is singlemom.com regarding housing. your child can attend the same school. federal funds are set aside for homeless education. visit national center for homeless education so you are equipped with your child's education rights - not pushed around
If not too late go to doctor about the fall. Of course he didn't want you to go. It could result in action against t him. It could have been something with the property.
in response to youngmother15...I understand what you are going through. My situation is similar. I am a recent graduate, 51, single, PTSD, severe depression, very little money. The only thing my landlord has done is collect the entire 3 years I have lived here. I have sprayed for roaches every day since I have been here. Fleas have chewed me and my son (who came to visit) up. I have not been able to pay the rent this month and an eviction notice has been filed. I do not know where I am going to get the money. I fell down the steps here and injured my back and knees. The landlord told me not to even go the ER because they were only going to give me aa ace band and antiobiotics. I hate where I live and have a huge resentment against my landlord and am in so much pain. I do not know where to go for help.
I am a young single mother of my beautiful 5 year old daughter and i also take care of my mother financially due to her chronic health issues. We have hit rock bottom and need help now!!! We just received a 7day eviction notice, if we don't have the money by then, then we can no longer live here and we literally have nowhere else to go. I lost my job back in December due to some health issues i was dealing with at the time. I am better now though and ready and willing to work. I have been filling out apps and i go in for an interview on Monday, but i need money like now!!! I just don't know what to do and im freaking out!!!!
Am also in the same situation. I Pray everyday for my daughter and myself also this is all too familiar. Don't know whats happened to everyone in this world, no one seems to care about anyone but themselves. May GOD BLESS You. We all have to keep the FAITH.
First check out the eviction and make sure it is legal. Go to the eviction hearings as it will buy you atleast ten to 20 days depending on the situation. Contact the ministerial association in your community. They can tell you which churches help with all of the above. Check out stimulus money and see if you qualify for any of it. There is money for first time buyers. I don't know what the requirements are. If you can't find work start your own. Clean houses or whatever you can do. Make sure you get your name on section 8 housing. There's a long list but you need to start somewhere. Sign up with www.freecharitycars sometimes they help with insurance and a one time payment, if not when your car gets repoed you have a chance to get a donated car. It's a wonderful site and everyone is in the same boat. Go to your local vocational rehabilitation office and see if you qualify as a displaced worker. If you qualify for their program they have various areas of help. You may have a waiting list. What state are you in. Talk to every charity organization in your community, you can get a list from the chamber of commerce. If you belong to a church go to them they may know of a job or housing. If not you might want to join a church for the support and comfort that they will give both you and your daughter. Sometimes you have to find others who are in the same boat and share housing and expenses. If you have a college in your town they post roomates on the bulleting board. I am in same situation..the house I am in is barely livable.I am getting evicted iN a couple days.The rent is ridiculous because everyone seems to think the oil boom is still going strong.The landlord told me he could care less if my kids and I live under a rock.The local shelter has one tiny room available in the attic so that's where we will be staying until I can find a job and my ex will start caring about his children as much as his 19 year old girlfriend...sigh..I'm sick of this crap!!!

I pray that you find a job, and don't go homeless. I pray your little girl never has to feel the harsh reality of the united states "Me, myself, and I" attitude. Everyone is so about being independant that when trouble comes along it is tremendously hard not only to ask for help BUT TO RECEIVE IT is so ridicously sad.-----There is no such thing as real help.
I get $400.montly in child support.
I went for assistance....The law is that if you want to receive cash assistance #1) You must forfeit your child support to the state in which you live.
#2) Then upon elgibility requirements and a bunch of nonsense ......I WAS TOLD THEY TAKE THE $400.00 AND IN RETURN MY CHILDREN WOULD RECEIVE A TOTAL OF $323.00 A MONTH!!!!!!!!

WELL GUESS WHAT I AM ABOUT TO BE HOMELESS TOO!!!!! I have left here 2 weeks and me and my 3 children have no where to go. Housing has a freeze on it mandated by the state. The city of Gainesville has a hiring freeze as well.
I am an honor roll student in the medical field.... I am trained to work in the medical field and I can't get a job!!!!
My situation is almost identical. Georgia State help does NOT exist!!!
I am an English man with an american girlfriend with 2 children. She has just lost her job and it seems like there is no help from the state, which to me is astounding.
In britain we believe everyone should have a safety net to help them through the tough times. we argue as to how much it should be, but in general we all accept that these are people we are taling about. And people will always be more important than things, businesses or money.
So I pay a little more tax than you, and people like my girlfriend can get a little help with rent, and food, and fuel and medicine.
I dont know how the system works in the states, and I really wish I were there to help her. Im scared for her children. Please, if anyone knows what would happenif she loses her flat. please post it here quickly.

I really don't know how to tell my teenager that we got an eviction notice. She is the one that takes things the worst.I just hope we don't end up with no where to go. How can I tell her everything is ok when I don't know myself. What do I tell her?
Hello, just to share some good news ! I got my eviction notice so ,I spoke to my landlord about being unemployed and not being able to pay my rent.She asked me if was aware of World Mission.They are associated with them. She said that both my spose and me could both volunteer 32 hours of work at their warehouse and that she would deduct 300.00 off of our rent and then icould get the rest from the other places with whom I have appointments with.I was so happy that they able to help me out. The rest depends on DHS,Salvation Army,Urban League.These are the places that offered to help once I had the eviction notice.
i am behind rent i owe for january and now february but the landlord sent an eviction notice on 2/6/09 and also changed the locks on the door. we do not have a written lease of any sort but what i am asking is if that is legal? i havent been spending anytime there at all been at my moms helping to take care of her

I just now found this site and think it's great to have someplace to go when you need help. My mom passed away suddenly last year and the loss left me devastated and shattered. This year has been one of PROFOUND grief, sorrow, and mental anguish. As a result I was no longer able to function as a customer service rep in a call center and had to quit my job. I am presently looking for a job that will keep my mind quieter, i,e. medical claims processing. I am quite sure I will be working somewhere next month, but until then I DESPARATELY need $3800.00 to pay two months rent and bring my utilities up to date. If anyone can help, I would GREATLY appreciate it! I need the money asap, like yesterday. My manager gave me until the 13th to pay December's rent. I've already received an eviction notice. Insulin dependent diabetes. 6. Depression. I am 3 mos. behind on my rent, I just received an eviction notice from my landlord, I haven't worked for 2 mos. all resources for assistance are exhausted and pending untll 3 to 6 months, I can't work, I have no money coming in and out of desperation I'm am reaching out to anyone who can help.
I am a single mother of a beautiful 10 yr old daughter, who has no idea that very soon, she will be forced from the home she has grown up in, to live in her mom's car with her mom. In approx. 2 weeks time, I lost my job, received an eviction notice, my auto insurance will be cancelled (5 days left to pay), which means my car will be repossessed as it's financed, my credit cards are maxed out, late, and over the limit, my credit score (which I struggled and worked so very hard for) went from "Excellent" to "Poor", and the love of my life has left me. Social Services have told me that there is no assistance what-so-ever available for my family. No medical, no emergency housing, nothing. I was told it was due to budget cuts. I have called every where I could find, and am told the same thing each time - "I'm sorry, there just isn't anything we can do to help you." I receive no child support (never have) and have absolutely no where else to turn. I am now down to absolutely nothing. I just used the last bit of change I could scrounge up to buy some cereal and milk. I have been on my own and have supported myself since I was 14 years old. I have always worked hard, volunteered my time, and tried my best to provide a stable life for my daughter and myself. I understand there are ups and downs in life, and that everything makes you stronger, but this is killing my soul. No matter how bad my life has been, I've always kept my faith and tried my best to stay positive and "keep on keepin' on", but now I'm becoming so weak. I feel like I'm falling down a dark black hole and trying to grab hold of anything, but just keep falling as there isn't anything to grab. I'm afraid that once the sherrifs notice goes on my door to evacuate my home and we are homeless, that social services will then take my daughter from me. She still isn't even aware I lost my job. I've hid all of this from her to try and protect her. She's 10 yrs old and innocent and I hate myself because of all of this. I pray to God everyday and night for a miracle. Please, please, from the depth of my soul HELP ME!
